βFAQ
Why IBEx?
Based in EU: one of the toughest regulations for operators and the safest for users,
Layer 2 Transparent: all movements are traced on its internal level 2 blockchain, which guarantees that there are no hidden orders and proof of reserve,
Build for n00b: enables non-specialists and "no coiners" to take their first steps with a platform that offers them maximum legal security (under European law), responsive support and a simplified interface,
No shitcoins: the tokens listed on IBEx all have a real-world company as their underlying asset. The token's business model may be "high" or "low" on the balance sheet, and even linked to its operating statement.
Why KYC (Know Your Customer)?
Global anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism regulations require us to verify your identity when you wish to use IBEx's main features, such as the purchase of crypto-assets. We do not transmit identity data outside the strict framework provided by law.
What are the KYC levels?
We carry out several levels of KYC depending on what you want to do on IBEx: owning a simple utility token doesn't involve verifying your postal address, which is imperative when you're buying a financial product such as a share.
Why my country is excluded from IBEx?
Because your country of residence or passport is on the FATF blacklist, or because you are a US resident or passport holder.
Why 2FA?
In the event of fraudulent access to your account, a simple password is not enough security to keep your funds safe, especially as on blockchain, movements are not reversible like in the centralized world of financial players who handle legal tender electronic money like your bank.
Several "strong" double authentication mechanisms are available. We have opted for 2FA, which is a key that only you possess, and which generates a code every 30 seconds via applications such as Google Authenticator or Authy.
Are real-world assets utility tokens or security tokens?
It all depends on what they represent in real life and the legislation that applies in their specific case. If it's a right to a service, we can generally say that it's a utility token. If it's the tokenised version of a share in the company (stock) or a debt (bond), it's generally a security. IBEx as a VASP (Virtual Asset Service Provider) does not allow you to acquire security tokens.
Note the "Howney test" in the USA, which is always a good indicator: "investment of money in a common enterprise with a reasonable expectation of profits to be derived from the efforts of others":
You invest money into it,
You expect a return on that investment,
The investment is in a common enterprise,
Your profit comes from othersβ work.
